Messiah

The Messiah —Do not wait for him. It does not matter if the Messiah is the return of a lost lover, or the Proletarian Revolution, or Tenure, or Death, or even the Second Coming of Christ: do not wait for him, for he will only come when you don't expect him. And when he does come, he won't be what you were hoping for. And, invariably, he will come too late. Do not wait for the Messiah —and who knows? Perhaps when you don't expect him anymore, when you don't need him anymore—he might just come.
